Forex.com is primarily a market-making broker. This means they do not connect client orders with the raw prices being offered in the market. Instead, Forex.com marks the price up slightly, creating a larger spread, which is how they generate revenue. The markups can be seen when comparing a standard account and a Direct Market Access (DMA) account. The DMA account offers no markup on spreads, but a commission is charged. The standard account offers no commissions, but it features larger spreads. The commission account is in the middle. It has reduced spreads (still some markup) and slightly lower commissions than the DMA account.

Trading basics are typically factual in nature, and there isn't much subjectivity. One information source may say to start currency or forex trading with at least $500, while another source may say to start with at least $1,000. One source isn't necessarily right or wrong. The information from multiple sources is indicating that you should definitely start with at least $500 and ideally with $1,000 or more.

IG is our number one recommendation for traders that desire an excellent platform experience. From technical analysis on charts to integrated trading signals, streaming news, and premium research, IG has done an excellent job making everything on its platform compact and easily customizable for traders. Alongside a light-mode and dark-mode option, users can also create multiple workspaces, and content is cleanly categorized across asset classes and market sectors. No question, in 2020, IG’s platform set the bar for the industry.

The foreign exchange market (Forex, FX, or currency market) is a global decentralized or over-the-counter (OTC) market for the trading of currencies. This market determines foreign exchange rates for every currency. It includes all aspects of buying, selling and exchanging currencies at current or determined prices. In terms of trading volume, it is by far the largest market in the world, followed by the credit market.[1]

Trading forex can be an ultimately rewarding experience, but you must learn the ins and outs first. There is a lot of risk involved and this most definitely outweighs the returns for those who jump the gun and start trading without being fully prepared. Take the time to work on your education - it’s the most important aspect of forex trading.  Knowledge is power, and that power will enable you to make logical decisions and continue trading long past the time when a lot of players have gone bust.

When trading in the forex market, you're buying or selling the currency of a particular country, relative to another currency. But there's no physical exchange of money from one party to another. That's what happens at a foreign exchange kiosk—think of a tourist visiting Times Square in New York City from Japan. He may be converting his physical yen to actual U.S. dollar cash (and may be charged a commission fee to do so) so he can spend his money while he's traveling. But in the world of electronic markets, traders are usually taking a position in a specific currency, with the hope that there will be some upward movement and strength in the currency they're buying (or weakness if they're selling) so they can make a profit.
Forex trading as it relates to retail traders (like you and I) is the speculation on the price of one currency against another. For example, if you think the euro is going to rise against the U.S. dollar, you can buy the EURUSD currency pair low and then (hopefully) sell it at a higher price to make a profit. Of course, if you buy the euro against the dollar (EURUSD), and the U.S. dollar strengthens, you will then be in a losing position. So, it’s important to be aware of the risk involved in trading Forex, and not only the reward.

Despite being “old school,” online forums are still used today and they can be a great place to get questions answered. Two recommendations include Elite Trader and Trade2Win. Just be careful of who you listen to. The vast majority of participants are not professional traders, let alone profitable traders. Heed advice from forums with a heavy dose of salt and do not, under any circumstance, follow trade recommendations.
Fluctuations in exchange rates are usually caused by actual monetary flows as well as by expectations of changes in monetary flows. These are caused by changes in gross domestic product (GDP) growth, inflation (purchasing power parity theory), interest rates (interest rate parity, Domestic Fisher effect, International Fisher effect), budget and trade deficits or surpluses, large cross-border M&A deals and other macroeconomic conditions. Major news is released publicly, often on scheduled dates, so many people have access to the same news at the same time. However, large banks have an important advantage; they can see their customers' order flow.
If you haven’t done so already, now is the time to start a daily journal that documents all of your trades, including the reasons for taking risk, as well as the holding periods and final profit or loss numbers. This diary of events and observations sets the foundation for a trading edge that will end your novice status and let you to take money out of the market on a consistent basis.
Understanding the currencies that you buy and sell makes a big difference. For example, a currency may be bouncing upward after a large fall and encourage inexperienced traders to "try to catch the bottom." The currency itself may have been falling due to bad employment reports for multiple months. Would you buy something like that? Probably not, and this is an example of why you need to know and understand what you buy and sell.
Any forex transaction that settles for a date later than spot is considered a "forward." The price is calculated by adjusting the spot rate to account for the difference in interest rates between the two currencies. The amount of adjustment is called "forward points." The forward points reflect only the interest rate differential between two markets. They are not a forecast of how the spot market will trade at a date in the future.

This software is mostly used in social trading platforms to enable traders to copy the trades of those traders they have decided to follow. So instead of copying their trades manually (a time-consuming process which is prone to errors), the use of copy trader software simply does the job automatically once the choice of a leader trader has been made. More experienced traders can choose to become trade leaders in order to bring in an additional revenue stream.

Saxo Bank maintained second place with its SaxoTrader GO mobile app. SaxoTrader GO is highly responsive and provides traders a unified experience with its web-based platform, offering unique features such as syncing trend lines, indicators, and watch lists. Also, the broker’s native integration of trading signals and pattern recognition, powered by Auto Chartist, is automatically synced with its web platform.

Also, it's important to be realistic about this profession. There is no perfect method of trading that consistently produces only winning results. However, if you practice learning to discriminate accurate information from that which is incorrect or misleading, you can spend most of your time focusing on information that will make you a more efficient and profitable trader.
OctaFX isn’t known for its own platform, it’s known for supporting multiple platforms so you can choose the one you enjoy most. OctaFX traders use MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, or cTrader. MT4 is commonly available to international forex traders, but not all have upgraded to support MT5. When you also consider cTrader, pretty much every trading strategy or preference is covered.
Forex Brokers: In order to start trading forex, you will need to trade with the help of a forex broker. There are many forex brokers out there today who allow you to open a forex trading account for as little as $5. The forex broker is the one who facilitates your buy and sell orders and also allows you to research into the markets (also known as technical or fundamental analysis) to help you make more informed decisions… and of course allows you deposit more funds or withdraw your profits when you want to.  (  Click here to see our Forex brokers rating )
